By way of an introduction,I
I wanted to tell you how my business started and has evolved since. It came about initially in2010 by chance.
I had major surgery and it took 6 months to get well enough to get up and about. In order to stop me going out of my mind, a dear friend who could tell I was a bit stir crazy, suggested that I had a go at card making, knowing my history of creativity; sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery from3yrs old.
By 13 was making my whole wardrobe, to working as international trainer for Singer sewing and knitting machines at 21.
During my 8yrs at Singer. I am proud to have worked with many TV stars and even selling machines to royalty.
But my proudest claim to fame was opening Liberty of London’s sewing school, with the Daily Mail Fashion pages as guest speaker. It was an amazing feeling watching ladies from all walks of life being inspired to get creative.. I taught Jasper Conran how to use a knitting machine whilst he was still learning his trade, worked with Anne Ladbury from House Party, and Charmian Watkins, designer too. I was even invited to be on GMTV with Giles Brandreth who would wear the winning jumper from knitting competitions.
From there I went to work as a consultant to Design International in Covent Garden, and then onto be National Sales manager for Juve the jewellery and accessory arm of Jaques Vert.
Having had 4 years away from business whilst nursing my husband through 7strokes, dialysis, diabetes and kidney failure until he eventually passed away, I was then eager to work back in a creative but selling environment. This is when I happened upon Yellow Pages, who are responsible for the biggest growth period of my life. I already had put myself through becoming a Christian counsellor, but Yell should be proud to have put me through 4 diplomas all to enhance my abilities in understanding people and their selling/buying behaviours. I became qualified but also became more and more ill but didn’t know why. I had an underactive thyroid since I was 28 and pregnant with my 3 son, but apparently it wasn’t that. Had major surgery as previously mentioned from which my body has never recovered. But still, it wasn’t that. On having had to leave Yell due to my illness, I found weeks at a time where I just couldn’t get out of bed. On good days, I get excited letting my creativity flow by making greetings cards. I sell at craft fairs, fetes, private house parties and via my website. We are now selling to 5 countries around the world.
I recently found out why I have had long periods in bed, I have Lupus, SLE. At last an answer, with specialist medication and a growing group of friends from St. Thomas Lupus Trust. My father said to me in the early days, “You need creativity in your life, don’t you Susan” and on-going; yes I do.
I am very pleased to share with the world, my God given talents. with you all.
BEST SELLERS ~ art4craft always wants to be able to give their customers value for money, but great value is what you get when ordering a GIFT BOX.
"Gift Box" of 10-15 cards. They average 12 cards some of which retail at £8 each. The reason that each box varies in number, is because it is totally dependent on how many of the £8 cards are wanted. You can order none, one or two, hence a 15 card box will have none, a 12 card box will have one and a 10 card box has two. All cards can be personalised, or you can take complete pot luck. So as you can now tell they really are amazing value.
